Landganics is an organic weed control company that provides safe and effective organic weed control services, products, and tools. Our mission is to help our customers control weeds using organic, eco-friendly methods that benefit our planet.

Job summary and responsibilities:

The Crew Leader’s primary role is to independently manage a small weed control crew to efficiently carry out customer requests to control their weeds. The Crew Leader will meet with customers to determine their priorities, work alongside their crew to identify and remove noxious weeds using organic herbicides and manual removal, and hand seed native species. Additional duties include quality control and daily record keeping. The Crew Leader will earn $17/hr. and then increase to $20/hr. after passing the Idaho applicator exam. Pay will also include a fuel stipend. This job demands that you are physically active and is a great opportunity to work outside for the summer. You will gain experience in crew management, plant ID, native plant revegetation methods, and field data collection. You will work in the Great Yellowstone Ecosystem and be part of the effort to preserve these wild places using alternatives to traditional herbicides. No experience is needed; we will train the right applicant.

Schedule:

The workday will start at 7 am and will normally be between 8-10 hours long, on average 9 hrs./day.  The work week will be approximately 35-42 hours/week (on average 37 hrs.), some weeks extra work may be available and could result in overtime pay.  The field season will run from May 20th to approximately August 22nd.  Our work week is Monday – Thursday.

Required Qualifications:

  • Dependable, flexible, good attitude, and ready to learn.

  • Ability to follow methods and record data.

  • Ability to supervise crew.

  • Ability to work independently and on a team.

  • Ability to interpret maps and navigate to properties.

  • Ability to obtain an Idaho Pesticide Applicator License

  • A valid driver’s license w/ clean driving record

  • Physically fit, this job is physically demanding, you must be able to perform manual labor for 8 consecutive hours (i.e., lifting 50lbs, carrying a 20-45 lb pack).

  • Work long days in sometimes inclement weather.

  • Minimum age 21

  • Plant and weed identification

  • Applicator License

For Fun: Teton Valley is a great jumping off point to get out and explore the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.  Spend your 3-day weekends camping, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing boating and more.  Explore nearby Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP or visit Grand Targhee, our local ski resort, for some great cross-country or downhill mountain biking.  Grand Targhee Resort hosts 2 summer music festivals that are not to be missed.  Our local Teton River is great for fishing, lazy floats and wildlife watching.  The town of Victor hosts Music on Main on Thursday nights in the summer where you can enjoy free music and great food. The town of Driggs has a weekly Farmer’s Market on Fridays.

Additional Information:

  • $12.5 / day fuel stipend, approximately $600 for the season.

  • Past crews have organized carpools from Rexburg to Driggs.

  • $200 referral bonus for each friend referred who takes a job with Landganics.

  • Landganics does not provide housing.
